David Burke has over twenty‑five years of experience teaching speech, drama, and playwriting courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He is also a freelance playwright with over thirty video, audio, and stage plays produced or published. His most recent major work was the libretto for an original Christmas opera entitled Simeon. He received a PhD in speech communication and theatre specializing in playwriting from Southern Illinois University (Carbondale). His dissertation was entitled The Playwright as Comic Righter: A Christian worldview in Four New Plays. David holds a master's degree in platform arts from Bob Jones University where he is chair of the Performance Studies program. Winner of several awards for dramatic writing, David takes special interest in performance of Biblical drama as well as experimental theatre. Additionally, he has performed at numerous churches and colleges an original one‑man show Man After God's Own Heart, which excerpts and dramatizes the King James account of the life of the Psalmist David.
