Hans Leo Hassler, Chester L Alwes
This beautiful polyphonic mass from the Renaissance is laid out in the traditional five-movement format of its day. It is an excellent example of a parody mass, taking its choral theme from an earlier work, which was admired by the composer. Choral scholar, conductor, and editor, Chester L. Alwes, has prepared this score so the singers and conductor can successfully present this style of music in an authentic and musically satisfying performance. Performance time approximately 15 minutes.
