A lush, rubato introduction sets up the fast swing tempo (q = 240) that comprises the main body of this composition. Several times during the chart Fred uses an "improvised rhythm on a given pitch" technique in the winds that results in a fabric of driving eighth notes that sounds incredibly interesting and gives all your students a chance to listen and react to the music around them. The main focus of this chart is on the ensemble, but there is a solo spot for tenor saxophone that may be opened up or reassigned to anyone. (Includes an optional part for vibes.)
