John Turner

John Turner began his musical career as a church pianist at the age of nine in his hometown of Fairfield, Iowa. While in high school, he was invited to join a local professional dance band called the Aristocrats. After two years of college, he joined the United States Air Force as a bandsman and served twenty years before retiring in 1989. His last assignment before retirement was as a pianist and the chief arranger for the USAF Academy Band in Colorado Springs, Colorado. John finished his undergraduate degree in music after retirement and obtained a Master of Music degree in composition from the University of Colorado in 1995.

John's post-military career consisted of over twenty‑five years as a pianist for the Broadmoor International Hotel and Resort Complex, fourteen years as the piano accompanist for the Wasson High School vocal music department, five years as music director for the Crossroads Praise and Worship team of the First United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs, and one year as Artist-in-Residence at Colorado State University in Pueblo. He is currently the leader of two dance bands, which perform regularly in the Pikes Peak region of Colorado. He continues to compose and arrange music for his own bands and for music publication.
