Marianne Kim

A Chicago-based composer, pianist, organist, and harpsichordist, Marianne Kim has been noted for her vibrant performances and compositions in a wide diversity of musical styles, including classical, jazz, Broadway, R&B, gospel, and traditional/contemporary church music.

As a soloist and collaborative artist, Marianne enjoys performing piano and organ recitals, chamber music, and jazz. She has worked for the Lakeside Singers, and she served as pianist/organist for both Willow Creek Community Church and Moody Church for over a decade. Marianne is currently a principal organist at Christ Church of Oak Brook, IL. She has taught jazz piano classes at Northern Illinois University (2014-2015), and is currently a faculty member at North Park University, where she teaches Gospel/Contemporary Piano.

Marianne has worked for the Ravinia Festival since 2008, and recently performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Carlos Miguel Prieto.

Marianne has created music for piano, organ, choral, and other instruments, and has published over 400 titles with many major publishers, including Lorenz Pub. Co., Hope Publishing, Augsburg Fortress, Concordia Publishing House, GIA Publishing, and Shawnee Press/Hal Leonard Corp.

Born and raised in Busan, Korea, Marianne studied piano and composition at Busan High School of Arts and earned a BM in composition at Busan National University. Working professionally for over a decade in the United States, she returned to school and earned dual Master’s Degrees in jazz studies and organ performance with scholarships and prizes from Northern Illinois University.
