Ike is one of the most "happening" bass players on the New York scene today, and this creative piece demonstrates that his writing chops are equally strong. (It doesn't hurt that his dad, Fred Sturm, wrote the arrangement!) The swinging lines in the winds over a well written hip-hop groove in the rhythm section make this a very appealing, modern-sounding chart. Make no mistake, though-this piece is jazz through and through! There are extended solos for tenor saxophone and trumpet with extensive ideas for improvisation provided. (Trumpet 1 to written C with one D at the end, Trombone to F.)
